New Column

Hello to my dear readers,
It's been a long time since I've posted anything on this here writing outlet. Well this little blog is a request for YOUR help, yes YOUR help. I recently have been hired to write a column in a small news website, which they have basically just told me write about social issues and just free write about what your feeling (which good be their biggest mistake in the websites history). So for my first column I' am collecting some information through a few poll questions that will be posted on my blog, this is where you come in! This questions will be gender based, so please if your a female answer the female questions if your a male do the RIGHT thing and answer the male questions. The article will be about something I hold dear to my heart "Chivalry" is it slowly fading out in our society, has it died, do you even think their is room for the actions that chivalry requires or is it just something from the Victorian age that we don't need? Just so you know when I say Chivalry I mean "Modern Chivalry" since we really don't have knights anymore... You can find the questions to your right of this posting, thank you for your time. If you find the questions repetitive or silly don't worry there is always a reason for things.

Sincerely,
Trevor

Just In Case

This is not a best or worst list, this is simply a list of films that you may have missed and need to see that came out in 2009.

11. 9.
No I'm not talking about the musical movie NINE. I'm talking about the movie everyone saw the trailer for and either said, wow this movie looks creepy, or wow this movie looks amazing. 9. is a CGI film created by Shane Acker imagine the greatness of Pixar, well what if Pixar went take post apocalyptic yup, sounds amazing right? 9. takes you on a journey through a time where machines rule and humanity is all but dead, all that remains are 9 living puppets to save the earth. In my opinion you either hate it or love it, heavily based on humanity, and using the world for good and "it is what we make it". Even if the film doesn't end up to your liking, it is a very quick and short film, and will leave you in awe at some points of the beautiful art being portrayed on the screen.

10. The Hangover
If some how your funny bone missed this comedy I highly recommend this film for a good laugh. Not only is the story and the crazy antics that occur in the film hilarious, the characters are written and played so well it makes this movie an instant HIT. Be ready to get more hangovers in the future, and to enjoy other films featuring these actors.

9. Paranormal Activity
Many of you heard or saw the commercials stating that Paranormal Activity was the scariest movie of all time, and much more things were said to build this film up. If you somehow escaped viewing this cheaply budgeted film, then go out tonight rent the blu-ray or DVD, lock the doors, shut off the lights, curl up on the couch with a loved one and let the creaks and snaps of your moving house play into the emotional roller coaster you are about to ride.

8. The Hurt Locker
This is not a film, the hurt locker is something bigger. It is a very well written emotional journey into the life of the men that put their life on the line to disarm bombs in Iraq. Although I'm sure it only shows a sliver of what it truly feels like to be in Iraq, the film truly tries it's hardest and succeeds at placing you on the edge of your seat teeth cringing in anxiety. No doubt a favorite film choice for me.

7. Taken
Liam Neeson returns to action films in a big way in this 2009 release. It may not be a perfect film but for lovers of the Jason Bourne action, you will receive it. As Neeson goes on a killing spree to get his stolen daughter back, the viewers get to see Neeson do some great fight scenes and experience some adrenaline rushes. If you take Taken for what it is you will not be disappointed.

6. Watchmen
Based on the 1986 Graphic Novel, director Zack Snyder did the unthinkable filmed the un-filmable comic and did a fabulous job. For those who have read the comic, you will find a slight ending change but it doesn't harm the story or movie, Snyder did an outstanding job, with telling the story of Watchmen and showing the themes it was designed to display. For those who haven't read the comic will find the movie not to be your average "Super-hero Movie" but a movie of humanity and excitement; with some awesome fight sequences. Watchmen is a great movie and also houses one of the greatest and more memorable openings in film.

5. I Love You Man
If your looking for a love story or something for you and lady/man to watch then this is a MUST SEE FILM. The writing in I Love You Man is outstanding the writers took the classic romantic comedy genre and made a movie that will not be topped for a long time. Men and Women a like will enjoy this hysterical story of a groom to be trying to find a male friend. The characters of Jason Segel and the wackiness that is Paul Rudd will make for a fun and enjoyable evening at home with a group of people or just by yourself.

4. Star Trek
J.J. Abrams has used is magical wizardry again and this time in one of the most beloved cannons known to man. Chris Pine and (my favorite hero) Zachary Quinto lead this AWESOME CAST which includes Simon Pegg; YES SIMON PEGG. Not only is the casting hauntingly close in looks to the original cast, they also bring their characters back to life. This movie will blow you away with an exciting story and LOADS OF ACTION. The family will love Abrams take on the Star Trek universe.

3. Inglourious Basterds
Quentin Tarantino doesn't fail to deliver one of the best films of the year, with this WWII film, although it is his take on the matter so there are plenty of surprises. much like we have seen in all of his films; Basterds is a film filled with witty and awesome dialog; as well as some great action. Basterds is a serious story but you can tell it is written to give a little humor on the WWII genre. Basterds is an action adventure filled with great actors playing amazing characters and should be apart of everyone's movie collection.

2. District 9
With a viral marketing campaign that surged through newspapers, street benches, and the internet, and all we knew about this film was Peter Jacksons name was on it. But this brain child of Neill Blomkamp hit viewers and critics by storm when it first came to the silver screen. This Sci-fi action film deals with what would happen if aliens actually came to earth how would we respond. This film is a fun and action filled story, but with a haunting and real underlying realty placed throughout the film. With a film as fun and visually pleasing it is a must see film.

1. Zombieland
If SOMEHOW YOU MISSED THIS FILM, PRE-ORDER A COPY TODAY. If you love comedy, action, and zombies then this film IS FOR YOU; I heard grand parents leaving the theater loving this movie. Zombieland isn't your average zombie movie, it takes you on a fun wacky adventure we you meet some AWESOME and well written characters along the way, and a very amazing cameo. The dialog is fast and whitty, and the directing of the film was FLAWLESS. If you want fun, action, some gore, laughter, and ZOMBIES rolled into one film then this is it. Zombieland has changed the game for future zombie films to come.

Almost there but not close enough.

The Road- This post apocalyptic film is about a father and son walking the earth's burned and war torn streets, and trying to over come certain challenges. Although very depressing the film, is based on a fabulous book, that gives us a haunting and chilling story from start to finish.

UP
This was tough to leave out but oh well. Pixar is the master and again makes a fun family adventure to tide you over till TOY STORY 3.

Avatar
It was visually cool but a weak store killed the movie with a 400million dollar budget.

Blindside
This could very well be one of the greatest sports movies made, I think it needs to age for a little while before you can really judge. But a for sure LIKE!

G-Force
For the kids, its great it is exciting and funny, I even was laughing at Jon Favreau's character.

Man Apart
Not amazing but enjoyable! A different story, but the ending killed most of the joy I gained from the film.
